Finish It Up Friday: Empties #6 | Skin Care I've Used Up

Burt's Bees Sugar Scrub, £12.99, link
I liked this, but I don't think I would purchase it again. It was a nice scrub, and really did get the job done but the price just isn't worth it for me. It smelled nice, was nicely abrasive and didn't dry my skin out.
Clarins Toning Lotion (Oily to Combo Skin), £18, link
I got this in a blog sale, and wouldn't purchase this full price. It did nothing for me skin, no matter what state it was in and it seemed totally pointless. Cheaper toners have done more for me so I think I'll stick with those.
Lancome Tonique Comfort Toning Lotion, £22.50, link
I liked this, and think if my skin were to become seriously dry again I would repurchase this to help me get it to a "normal" state. It is a little pricy but it lasts a long time and does help. I found it to give me a little boost of hydration alongside my moisturizer and cleanser and it also helped get rid of any last little traces of makeup.
Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask, £5.95, link
I really liked this mask, and I would repurchase this after I've tried some of the other masks from Lush. My only issue was that I didn't quite get to use this up in the time it took for the mask to go out of date. It was a nice, slightly exfoliating mask that left my skin feeling soft after. It also didn't stink like bananas like I feared, which was a total win for me because I hate that scent.
MAC Cleanse Off Oil, £8, link
I love this stuff, and if I had the cash to treat myself I would totally buy this full price. It's an amazing makeup remover and leaves my skin feeling clean. I might have a good dupe over this one though so look out for that post coming soon. This almost dupe, unlike the l'oreal option, is free of mineral oil so is better for the skin.

No7 Beautiful Skin Blemish Defense Serum, £16, link
I liked this but I wouldn't repurchase because the price is insane. I got the bottle for £5 almost new in a blog sale which I thought was reasonable but £16 for something the "might" have worked is something I won't be doing. It did help boost my hydration a little but I don't know if it was this or that fact that I stuck to a skin care routine while using that helped clear up my breakouts.

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer, £3.99, link
This is a simple, excuse the pun, lotion that I think almost anyone could get on with. It was great in the day time to offer my skin some moisture without leaving my skin oily or with a moisturizer to heavy for makeup. It's super cheap, lasts ages and doesn't irritate my skin in any way.

Superdrug Simply Pure Light Moisturizer, £2.59, link
This is the Superdrug version of the Simple lotion above. It does the same job, but I actually prefer this packaging to the Simple one. It's easy to squeeze out what you need and has all the benefits of the Simple. It's also a little cheaper too.

Superdrug Vitamin E Radiance SPF15 Cream, £2.99, link
I really like this as a day cream when my skin is feeling dull. It gives my skin a subtle glow, that when used with foundation, helps create that "lit from within look". It also offers some sun protection which is always helpful. It didn't irritate my skin, left it feeling moistuised and helps dull looking skin. I would repurchase this, and have already done so.

Garnier Moisture Match Wake Me Up, £5.99, link
I hated this, so I wouldn't repurchase this. I think I want to try the other options like the Goodbye Dry because from the testers in store make me think they are so much better than this. I got this because of the gel formula, which has always helped with my dry skin, but this just left my skin feeling sticky and un-hydrated.

Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Oil, £2.99 , link
I don't think I will be repurchasing this because it was to oily. I've found other oils that work with my skin better and don't leave it feeling really oily like this. I did like it for sorting out those flaky dry patches I can get but all over the face this just didn't work.

Clearasil Overnight Lotion, Discontinued
This was alright, but I can't repurchase this. I don't think it really helped with my blemishes but it was a nice, light overnight moisturizer. I used this during the day as well because it wasn't heavy. It was just okay, and there are better things out there for blemish control and overnight hydration.

Purity Anti-Aging Moisturizer*, £7.99 , link
I liked this but it wasn't amazing. It really did leave my skin feeling moisturized but it did leave it with a slight tackiness to it for quite some time after applying it. If I put this on right before makeup it wasn't the best but if I let it sink in for a few minutes then it gave me a nice base to apply my foundation on top of. I don't think I'd purchase this because I have better things but the Overnight Moisturizer from this brand is AMAZING!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, £10 , link
I got this from my aunt when it was about 3/4 empty so I didn't get to use all that much of it but it would be something I would purchase for myself. It was a nice light feeling moisturizer that helped my dry skin and didn't make my oilyish nose any more oily. It didn't irritate any sensitive patches either.

  1. I agree with the point about the Clarins toner - I never had any luck with that. I'm pretty sure water is just as good as a toner (I have dry skin). I also struggle to use up the lovely fresh masks from Lush (do some people have extra big faces????). I will definitely be looking into the Superdrug products you mention.
