April Favourites 2013 | Soap and Glory, Chanel & More

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Medium, Yardley Royal English Daisy Hand Cream, Soap and Glory Glow Job, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15, Cosmopolitan Beauty Blender, YSL Rouge Voluptue Shine Lipstick in 8 Pink In Confidence, MUA Liquid Liner in Brown, MaxFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara, Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 120, Daniel Sandler Waterproof Liner in Black Velvet, MAC Pro-Longwear Blusher in Stay Pretty and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

Another month has past, and we are all that much closer to summer actually appearing! Today, I have a post all about the things I've been loving in the month of April.

Maybelline BB Cream in Medium, £7.99 (link)

I use this on super natural days, or as a primer when I want heavier coverage. I'm using Medium at the moment to give my skin a bit of a boost in the colour department as summer approaches but light has been a favourite of mine since it was released.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15 , £5.99 (link)

I love this concealer, and I use it for all of my problem areas. It conceals blemishes, under-eye circles and redness. It lasts all day and the formula is brilliant. I did try this before and found the shade to be too dark, but who knew that the first shade (10) isn't the lightest. I found a lighter shade (15) and now it's perfect all round.

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 120, £5.99 (link)

I love this powder. It;s a nice, light weight powder that sets my makeup without making it look cakey. It doesn't offer that much coverage which I actually like, and the shade works well with my lighter and darker foundations.

Cosmopolitan Beauty Blending Sponge (link)

No matter what foundation I used, this sponge works with it. Some of my brushes only work with certain foundations but this working with everything. It gives a nice flawless coverage without any caking and it even works with cream blushes to get a nice natural look on the skin.

Soap and Glory Glow Job  (link)

I picked this up when Soap and Glory was on 3 for 2 in Boots and fell in love. You need to make sure that you put this on in a mirror because of the bronzing beads in the lotion but it's a great 'radiance' mosituriser that is great for spring/summer. It's not a self tanner so don't fear, and it doesn't make you look like a TOWIE extra with the bronzing beads so don't fear either.

MAC Pro-Longwear Blush in Stay Pretty (link)

After hunting for a bright spring time blush, I found this beauty. It's a nice long wearing bright pink that lasts all day on my cheeks, is a nice fine milled powder and amps up a look. The colour is great for the spring summer time. I wear this with super simple eye makeup and nude lips to make it pop and it looks great.

Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara (link)

I love this mascara, and am about to go out and purchase the full size. I for this in a little Max Factor gift set, and am so glad that I got to try it. It's a nice rubber wand that allows you to get super black and voluminous lashes. It can clump a little bit to much if you want more than 2 layers, but two layers is great for super amped up lashes.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in 8 Pink in Confidence (link)

I picked this up at the #LDNBBMeet and have worn it nearly every day since. The colour is easy just to throw on with almost any look. It's nice and moisturizing, not drying in anyway and it stays on my lips. The colour is not to nude that you look dead, but also nude enough that it works perfectly everyday.

MUA Liquid Eyeliner in Brown (link)

I'm trying to get away from black liner for the summer, and this is my way of weaning myself off of it. It's a great liquid liner with a nice felt tip type brush. It's only £1, and it lasts all day on my eyes. It doesn't flake or smudge once it's dry, and the brown is just less harsh than black while still giving a nice definition to the eyes.

Daniel Sandler Velvet Eyeliner in Black (link)

Even though I just said that I am trying to get away from black, I cannot give up my black liner in my water line just yet! This liner is amazing! It is super pigments, creamy but not to creamy, and it lasts all day. It's really black, and I love that its twist up. I never sharpen pencils, I just go find another one so a twist up  one is perfect for me.

Yardley Royal English Daisy Hand Cream (link)

Review HERE

This hand cream is great, but it's the scent that's my favourite. I adore this scent from Yardley and have the EDT in my bag at all times. I want the shower gel and body lotion just to smell like this all the time. It's a nice light, young, floral scent perfect for spring/summer.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle (link)

Oh, where have you been all my life? This is the perfect scent for me. It lasts ages on the skin, it's a nice mature scent without making you smell like your nan or something and it's chanel. You only need 1 spray to smell like this all day, and the scent is gorgeous.

Winter Lip Must Haves | Lipsticks, Balms and Seals

I'm a bit late with this post, but we've still got some of the winter time left so I thought I would still put it out there. I wanted to share my favorite winter lip products so lets get on with it!
winter lip must haveI have some major lip issues so good balms and moisturizers are essential for me. I tend to use a combination of products like these to help keep them looking a little nice. I reach for long wearing products and products to help keep the lipstick feathering when if I have cracked lips and dry skin around the lips . love a good dramatic lips in the winter time so I tend to pick darker lips colours, but also if I play up my eyes when I do a look, I like to have a nude in my makeup bag as well.
 Pwinter lipstick must have
These are the lipstick colours that I've been reaching for this winter:

Barry M Lip Paint in 156
Does it make sense if I call this colour my bright dark lippy? It's a nice pink/berry colour that gives a nice pop of colour on the lips while keeping on trend. I like the Barry M Lip Paints, and this is no exception . It lasts a fair amount of time, and doesn't dry out my lips too badly.
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick Sloane's Plum
This is my purple lipstick favourite. It's the perfect plum for me and it stopped me picking up a much more expensive lipstick from MAC which I think is similar to this. I's not drying, and it lasts a nice amount of time too. It can be put on quite sheerly or built up and it looks great either way.

Rimmel London Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 107
Everyone and their mum is talking about this, so I won't say much but it's a nice nearly matte really vampy red that looks good on just about anyone. It can be a bit messy to apply but with a good lip liner it lasts a long time and stays on the lips.

Revlon Colour Burst Lipstick in Creme Brulee
This is my go to winter nude at the moment. It's a balm and a colour so it keeps the lips from drying out and it's easy to apply. This has replaced my Blankety lipstick from MAC which I adore, but it snapped so this is my go to nude now!

  winter lip must haves

To keep my lips looking soft and nice I've mainly been using three products, along side a lip scrub:

Blistex Relief Cream
I apply this morning and nice ad it's the Blistex Relief cream. It's a thick cream products with a cooling menthol feel and it keeps my lips moisturized through out the day.

Balmi Lip Balm in Coconut
I use this through out the day over or under lipstick. It gives me a shot of moisture on the lips, smells great and the packaging is really cure too.

Balance Me Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve
I use this as a gloss/balm. If I want to add some shine to my lips I'll add this over the top. It keep my lips moisturized and it makes them look a little glossy too. It smells like rose, which I'm not a fan of but I can get past that. It give the lips a nice little tingle and does what it says on the tin.

The other two products are kind of random, but I love using them especially in the winter.

ELF Lip Seal
This is a product I've never seen anywhere else, but I wouldn't be without it! It's a clear, balm like substance that you apply either to your lips as a primer of sorts, or around the edge of your lips (outside the lip line) to enure that any lipstick you are wearing doesn't bleed, and stays in place on your lips. I think this is brilliant because when my lips dry up lipstick bleeds more than normal and it's not a good look. This is a total savior for me

Max Factor Long Lasting Lip Colour
The colour has come off of this one in particular, but I've been loving this formula from Max Factor. It lasts a long time and they have a nice selection of colours. They do tend to go a little crispy, like most long wear lip products but with a gloss or balm they look great all day!

Empties #1

Be prepared for a long post guys. I’m going to try and keep it as short as possible and not ramble to much. These are the empties I’ve gathered since the 15th of September. I can only give you the precise date because it’s they day I moved up to uni, and these are the only products I’ve had with me. So, on with what I’ve used up.

Superdrug Tea Tree Moisturiser
There isn’t much to say about this to be honest, except that the scent is so strong it makes your eyes water. It’s great for those slightly oily days or if you’re having a major breakout, but other than that it’s not too much different from other moisturisers. It’s doesn’t dry out my skin, but it doesn’t work miracles. It’s just ok.

MAC Cleanse Off Oil
I’m so sad this is gone. I adore this stuff, and because of my spending ban I cannot purchase another just yet but I will be when I have the cash to. It’s the best makeup remover that I’ve ever tried, and it removes every bit of makeup on my face. It does leave a bit of an oily residue, but for my dry skin it’s not too bad. I either wipe it off with a baby wipe, or cleanse with a hot cloth cleanser.

Clinique Rinse Off Makeup Solvent
I don’t recommend this. For the price, it’s nothing. It doesn’t remover waterproof makeup, or anything remotely stubborn. It stings a little when I use it on my eyes, and it’s just not worth the money.

Sure Woman Maximum Protection Deodorant
I debated about putting this in this post because it seems like strange thing for me to talk about but I have to ask something of you all. I brought this in Boots when it was on sale. It was normally about £5, but it was knocked down to £2.50. I didn’t think much of it at the time but now I fear it’s been discontinued. It’s the best deodorant ever! It’s smells nice and it really works.

Simple Light Hydrating Moisturiser
If you don’t need to much moisture this is for you. It’s a simple product that does what it says on the tin. It lightly moisturises the skin, without leaving a scent or any kind of residue on it. It’s also super cheap which is great to.

Max Factor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint in 04
This isn’t used up, it’s just dried out. I’ve had this for quite some time, and it’s lasted pretty well but I didn’t get that much wear out of it  because of the shade. If I would have brought it in the autumn months it would have had a lot more wear but it’s just not a summer colour so it didn’t see the light of day.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in 6 Pink Parfait
This technically isn’t finished either, but it belongs here because the bullet broke and I can no longer use it. I’m sad that it’s gone because it wasn’t cheap but it’s wasn’t the best lipstick in the world either so I won’t be repurchasing it. The colour was decent, but didn’t last all that long on the lips.

MAC Lipstick in Sweetie (Lustre)
I will repurchase this. It’s the best lipstick I’ve used in a long time and it works amazingly well for fall and winter because it’s got that deep purple hue to it that screams autumn. It didn’t last all that long, but I didn’t care because it was a fabulous colour. It gives a beautiful stained effect to the lips rather than blanking them out like some lipsticks can which I think is fabulous.

MAC Limited Edition Lipstick in To Catch A Sailor (Frost)
I wasn’t a fan of this, and this has a similar story to the Estee Lauder lipstick. The bullet broke and I depotted it, but the colour just wasn’t worth the hassle of it all so I binned it. I love the packaging and as sad as it sounds I will miss it looking nice a pretty in my collection.

MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation in NW20
This was a really nice foundation, and had I had it in the right shade it would have been used up a lot sooner. It’s a nice foundation for those who have combination skin and it has the SPF built in so for people like me whose moisturiser doesn’t have it in, this is great. It gives a medium coverage, but it’s most certainly buildable to. It lasted pretty well and didn’t melt off my face.

MAC Studio Tech Foundation in NW20
I used this as a concealer because it’s just too thick to use as a foundation. Again, I would have preferred this if it were in a better shade for me but it worked well enough. It’s not the best concealer in the world, but it’s better than some. I wouldn’t repurchase it.

MAC Eyeshadow in Crème De Violet
This isn’t technically an empty, it’s a depotted shadow but the container is empty so I put it here. I have a review of this here so read that to see what I thought.

MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Rich Core
I love this, and wish it wasn’t limited edition. I used this as crease colour for more dramatic looks and as a liner at times too.  It’s a nice shadow, that was really blendable and I loved it. I could have got more use out of it but the shadow fell out of the pan and broke so it was no more. If they were to ever re-introduce them I will snap another one up.
