YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 2 Pourpre Intouchable

You may have seen me rave about the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks in the past, and today the post is no difference. I love just about everything about the lipstick formula, the packaging and, in this case, the colour. 

Shade 2, or Pourpre Intouchable, is a beautiful glossy, slightly pink toned plum shade. It does have some shimmer running through it but it doesn't really translate as shimmer on the lips and you cannot feel it at all. The lipstick glides onto the lips really smoothly, doesn't bleed and leaves a nice sheer-to-medium coverage of colour.  They aren't drying, and while they don't last as long as something matte they do last decently considering they are a glossy finish product. 

The shape of the lipstick bullet might put some people off because it doesn't have the classic pointed shape but don't fret. The shape might be difficult to be precise with if the lipstick were matte, highly pigmented or meant to be long lasting/a stain but because of the glossy and somewhat sheet nature of this product the flat bullet shape actually makes the lipstick quick and easy to apply. 

I'll let the luxurious packaging speak for itself because, quite frankly, it doesn't need words. It's stunning, but it doesn't come without a hefty price tag. These lipsticks are at heartbreaking (or bank breaking) £25 a pop, so maybe save up to treat yourself if you fancy picking one up.

Lipstick Obsessed

Hi! My name is Sarah and I'm obsessed with lipstick! 

 

The picture you can see in this post is what I'm taking with me for 2 days away this weekend. Why do I need that many lip products? WHY? 

I can't even answer that question because I know that I don't need that many but I can't bring myself to leave any behind! I keep trying to narrow it down but even thought I've worn lip liner once in the last two months and I don't usually wear lip gloss, my brain keeps telling me I need to take them just in case. 

This pile is smaller than the original pile. I took out some liners opting for just a nude and red rather than rather than a red, pink, mauve and nude liner. I took out my baby lips because I already have a lip balm. 

I took out some colours because I had like 2 of every colour. 
So I have self diagnosed myself as a lipstick obsessive and I know I need help! If anyone knows how to sure this condition, please leave me a comment. I need to get better some time soon.

#30in30 Lips Edition: YSL Golden Gloss in 40 Golden Impertinence

I'm not usually one for the stickiness that is lipgloss but I will always make an exception for the gorgeousness that is the YSL Golden Gloss. I've done a full review of this HERE so this post will be short but I had to include this in my #30in30. 



Number 40 is a gorgeous dark pink in the tube full of glitter that reflects about 7 different shades. The glitter is pretty obvious in the tube and on the lips but it's not horrid gritty glitter.

On the lips this colour just gives you a hint of pink. I love to use this over some of my "too nude" or "concealer lips" lipsticks to give them some warmth and to make them more wearable.

#30in30 Lips Edition: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are possibly my favourite drugstore lip product. They are super long lasting, non drying and look nice on the lips. I love the shade range, but am hoping for more. 



A favourite of mine at the moment is Cherish. It's a light yet bright pink with a lilacly under tone. It's not the most opaque of the collection but it's a great colour to go to if you want something wearable but a little different. 



I don't have anything else like this and I love using this to give my lips a sheer wash of colour. If you like barbie lips, then this is great when built up but I'm not really a barbie lip fan. With the other shades in this collection of products I like to build up the colour to get a more full coverage finish and that stain like effect. With this one, because of the baby pink colour, I use it lightly. 

I like the crayon packaging, and the twist up feature means no need to hunt down the sharpener. It's a bit of a copy cat for the Clinqiue chubby sticks but it's great to have a more affordable option. 

The price is pretty great for the brand and the product you get. I would repurchase these, and have many of the other colours. I hope they bring out some more colours, because I would love to see some new ones.

#30in30 Lips Edition: Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

The Revlon Lip Butter's are a major blogger cult product. Everyone just about lost their shit over these things when they hit the shelves, myself included. After giving the a long and through testing I've found I like them, but they aren't amazing. They really aren't groundbreaking, and only some shades are decent. 

Sweet Tart if the one shade I adore. It's a beautiful bright pink colour that is more lipstick than lip balm. The bright pink isn't blue toned like my usually favourites, but  it still looks flattering on my lips. The bright colour is great for a pop of colour and to add something to a simple makeup. 

 


The packaging is pretty cute, but because of the balm texture of the bullet it gets really messy. The slightly see through plastic of the cap means you can see all the crap over the lid but if your careful or just don't care then the packaging is alright. 

They don't last all that long on the lips and they don't fade very evenly. I don't mind about the fading because I'm an obsessive lipstick applier. It  top up all the time because I hate the feeling of dry/bare lips. 

Overall I adore the shade and will repurchase it. It could be longer lasting though, and a little less soft.

#30in30 Lips Edition: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Runaway

 

 The Revlon ColorStay Suede Lipsticks are created to last all day. They glide onto the lips in a nice and easy way, but set into a matte finish. They do last a long time on the lips but after a while they do tend to dry out the lips and settle into creases.  Adding the balm or gloss on top does shorten the life of the lipstick, but  it makes it look so much better. I tend to wear this alone for 3 or 4 hours, and after that I top it with a gloss to gain some shine and moisture back. 



Runaway is a gorgeous brown nude colour, great for everyday wear. With just one swipe it's a subtle nude, but built up it's a nice deep brown nude. Some people have told me that brown nudes are a more mature colour, but I adore them because it doesn't make me look dead like some nudes, and it still gives my lips a nude/nonpink effect.

#30in30 Lips Edition: MUA Lipstick in Shade 1

Shade 1 from MUA is possibly my favourite of the collection, and it's the deep red shade that MUA offer. The red is comparable to Topshop Hazard, and free of any shimmer or glitter.  The creamy formula ensure the lipstick goes on smoothly, but you do need to be careful when applying this because it can get messy. That is true for most reds though,  so it says nothing bad about these MUA lipsticks.  It's nicely pigmented, long lasting and not to drying on the lips.

I've found these to last about 4 hours on the lips before you see any significant fading and need to touch up. Eating and drinking do take off some of the colour, but because of the intensity of the red it does leave some staining on the lips so you can still see the colour.  With a lip liner, they last all damn day! 

The packaging isn't the greatest ever, but it's also better than some. The tube is really simple with black casing and silver writing. the writing does rub of pretty quickly if you use these a lot or carry them around so they can look a little grubby.

#30in30 Lips Edition: YSL Rouge Volute Shine Lipstick in 13 Pink in Paris

This is my first luxury lipstick of my #30in30 posts. I don't actually own that many luxury lipsticks. MAC and YSL are the only two high end brands that I've invested in Lipstick wise, but oh do I love them! 

The YSL Rouge Volutpe Shine Lipstick in 13 Pink in Paris is a gorgeous rosy pink shade. It's give a nice pop of colour without being to bright or to nude. The packaging is probably the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen, and the lipstick is great. 



The formulation of these lipsticks is amazing. It's a great moisturizing formula that lasts! I've heard people say that they are similar to the Revlon Lip Butters, but they are so much better. These go onto the lips really well, even the lighter shades, without streaks and they don't bleed.

#30in30 Lips Edition: Rimmel Lasting Finish "Kate Moss" Lipstick in 02

 Kate Moss Lipsticks are a huge blogger favourite. The opqaue, creamy colours are long lasting and not drying on the lips. I adore shade 2 which is the bright, fuchsia pink colour in the original line. 



The shade is very similar to that of MAC Girl About Town. It's free of shimmer or glitter, glides on the lips and stay put for a long time. They are super cheap in comparison to high end lipsticks, and the quality is just as good. 




 The packaging is nice and simple. The black tube is nice and sleek, the red Kate Moss logo isn't to out there and adds just a little something to it. My only wish with this lipstick is that it has a name rather than number. All of the other Rimmel lipstick ranges have names, but for some reason the Kate Moss lipsticks are numbers.

#30in30 Lips Edition: L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash in Eve

So, a little while ago I made a list for the Day Zero Project listing 101 things to do in 1001 day. One of my blogging goals was to post twice a day for an entire month. So September is going to be the first month in which I attempt to do that. I saw on Miss Budget Beauty's Blog that she shared 30 lip products in 30 days. I decided to take a leaf out of her book and share 30 lip products with you all. The first being this L'oreal Glam Shine Splash Stain. 

 

I'm not a huge fan of these gloss stains. I hate the texture on the lips, found that they bleed a lot and they cling to any sort of dry patches you have is you build up the colour past one layer. It's feels like sticky jelly on the lips, and I'm not a fan of that to be honest. The first time I applied it I loved it but the second that it starts to set it's just a horrid texture. 

Eve is a lilacy, pink colour. It's not the most faltering colour, so I could have chosen better but it's pretty unique. The blue tone of the colour helps the teeth look white, and it looks great with my pale skin. 



I adore the packaging of the L'oreal Glossy Stains. I actually prefer the packaging of these over the YSL Glossy Stains, which are gold and black in colour and quite chunky and square in shape. These are a slightly gold-ish silver colour, with a band at the top showing the colour of the product. The shape is unique, not to chunky and really classy. 

I really like the scent of this gloss/stain/lip colour. I can't quite say what it smells like, but it is quite a sweet scent. It's not all that long lasting (the scent) so if you aren't a fan of fragrance, don't worry.  

Overall, I won't be picking up more of these but I think I will use this on occasion if I really want the unique colour.

Exciting New Drugstore Makeup Releases (UK Edition)

So, I'm sure nearly every young girl and blogger now knows about this next release and have just about wet themselves over it. One Direction are releasing a capsule makeup line with bargain makeup brand MUA (Makeup Academy). The line is called Little things and feature lip balms, lipsticks and nail polish all apparently inspired by the cult boy band.  

Please don't shot me, but I don't get the one direction phenomenon but I am a HUGE fan of MUA so I'd love to see if the standard is just a high as they currently are or if the One Direction name is going to carry the collection.  



The Lipsticks look pretty awesome and are probably what I'm going to try and get my hands on. I hope, working where they sell MUA, that I could possibly get my hands on it before the prepubescent girls run in store screaming. I kind of hope I'm lying about that but you never know. We had a Justin Bebier stand when his fragrance launched first time around, and no word of a lie there were 13 - 15 year olds kissing the cardboard cut out and some evern went as far as to simulate giving the PIECE OF CARD and blow job while someone else filmed it on their smart phone.

WHAT?!?!?!?!  

I just cannot even...

Baby Lips. They have finally reached the UK and everyone is going a little mental. We put them out at work the other day and one girl actually screamed at them. I wish I was exaggerating or lying, but I'm not. She just about had a melt down and brought every shade/treatment type, even after I told her that if she waited until Wednesday, she would get them cheaper as Maybelline is going on 3 for 2 in Superdrug from then. 

Anyway, they are here and I'm assume all bloggers are going to go bat crap crazy over them like the Americans did. They are good, I have two, but not quite worth the INSANE hype they have buzzing around them. 



 Revlon, a brand that everyone loves at least one thing from, has a new mascara releasing. The Lash Potion has been out in the states for sometime I think but it's just hitting stores in the UK and I think I might give it a go. I've never tried as mascara from the brand so this might my first foray into that. The packaging looks really nice, I love the name and I've heard some great things about it. 




I'm shocked the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick is hitting the UK so quick after hitting the US market. WE had to wait so long for some of the most hyped up things like the aforementioned Baby Lips and Colour Tattoos. It even took quite a while for the Fit Me Range to reach this little island but the Fit Me Shine Free Foundation stick is already here. I'm not sure if I'm going to invest because the reviews I've seen haven't hated on it but they haven't raved about it either. I'll wait for the tester in-store and see what it's like!  

I'm sure there are many more releases hitting the UK drugstores/highstreet soon but these stood out to me. I know L'Oreal have some more colours of their False Lash Flutter mascara that are meant to enhance certian eye colours but I hate the wand so I won't be checking those out.  Bourjois' version of the Lip Butters from Revlon are hitting the shelves if they haven't already and they are really nice. I've tried some of the testers are work, and they are even better than I thought they would be.
