Rimmel Lust List

rimmel lust list

rimmel lust list by trialandtest featuring lips makeup

Rimmel is one of my favourite high street brands. I think if offers great products and a great price and they offer something new quite often. Today, I have a lust list (wishlist) for you featuring some of my most wanted Rimmel products. Some, I have tried some I have not but I would love to add these items to my collection at some point in the near future.

Rimmel Matte BB Cream (link)
The matte beauty balm claims to offer a whole host of benefits and it's only £6.99. It claims to be 9 in 1 and help with the appearance of pores, uneven skin tone, shininess, oil control, smoothness and it claims to soothe the skin. I loved the original BB cream from Rimmel but I did find it a little to shiny. I would love to try the matte formula to see if it offers the same coverage etc without the immense shine. I have tested the product a little and think it seems quite promising so I think I'm going to grab 1 of the 4 shades soon.

Kate Moss Matte Lasting Finish Lipstick (link)
The Kate Moss Lipsticks are probably my all time favourite lipsticks. The original forumla was creamy, pigmented and long lasting. When the matte versions hit the shelves people went potty over them but for some reason I have never picked one up. I have tested them, and adore the way they feel on the lips so I really need to add 1 or 2 to my collection. The 107 shade is probably the most popular and is a cult A/W shade for many, but I would love to try 101 too. They are £5.49 each. and instead of the all black packaging the original formula have, they are a nice bright red tub with a black "kate" signed on the side. Also, it is worth nothing that these are not totally matte, they give a more satin finish on the lips but are not drying or unflattering on the lips at all.

Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara (link)
The Lash Accelerator Endless mascara followed the original Lash Accelerator mascara from Rimmel and claims to help lengthen lashes and it is meant to have some conditioning properties that help lashes grow. The original is my favourite lengthening mascara, so I really want to try this because it has a wand that I usually love (plastic bristles) and it has fibers in the formula that will help lengthen the lashes even more than the original. It's not too expensive for a mascara either so next time I need a mascara I think I'll grab this one, or the next one I'm about to talk about. I don't like the packaging, because I hate that bright green tube but I won't worry about that too much, or maybe I'll got for the extreme black shade that has a nice all black tube.

Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara (link)
I'm a mascara junkie, if you didn't know. I love to try just about any that I can get my mitts on. In fact I could probably make a lust list post (per brand) of mascaras that I want to try. The Retro Glam mascara is one mascara from the Scandal eyes range. I really didn't like the first scandaleyes but I've heard so many good things about the other versions released that I just have to try them. The Retro Glam is probably the most well spoke of so I want to try that first but the Rockin Curves is the next after that. It's £6.99 I believe, so not expensive

Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner (link)
Does the search for the perfect liquid liner ever really end? No! is the answer before you even think about it. Even when you find something you love, something in the back of your head will tell you that you might be able to find something just that little bit better. That's why I want to try this Rimmel Exaggerate Liner. I have many liners that I love, and I'm huge fan of gel as well so I have even more to add to the list but I keep thinking that if I just try one more It'll be the perfect liner that will put an end to all other liners. I've heard great things about this being long wearing, really black and easy to apply which makes me want it even more. I think it's about £5.49 for a tube so I might wait for it to go on offer before picking it up (my current fave is just £1) but it will be in my collection sometime in the foreseeable future.

Rimmel Favourites | Top 10

Rimmel is one of my favourite drugstore brands. It really hits the nail on the head in so many sections like foundation, eyes and lips. It  is also really affordable, and almost always on offer in Boots or Superdrug. So, with that in mind today I have my top 10 Rimmel favourites.

Rimmel Favourites
  1. ScandalEyes Shadow Paint | £4.99 | Buy Here
The shadow paints are gorgeous cream/liquid eyeshadows that  don't need to  be set with another powder eyeshadow to last  all day crease free. They go on like a liquid mousse, blend really easily and stay in place after they have set. They don't crease on me, and they work well alone or as a base. I like the applicator, and its better than shoving a bacteria infested finger into a pot all the time. They are only £4.99 a go, and I would highly recommend the bronze and taupe brown shade they offer. The other colour offerings could be better, so I hope they release more in the future.
  2. Wake Me Up Foundation | £8.99 | Buy Here
I'm not sure I need to say much about this foundation. It's loved by many, and with good reason. It is afforable, good coverage, buildable, non drying and it just appears to perfect the skin. I find  it lasts well sans primer and powder but with a touch of powder it will be good for those who have oiler skin or want to knock out some of the glow. The shades do run a little dark, but the recent addition of Light Porcelain to the range really makes it great for my pale pals out there. The shade range would be better  if it did cater to darker skintones though, but that is problem with almost any brand not just Rimmel.
  3. Eyebrow Pencil | £2.99 | Buy HereI find the Rimmel eyebrow pencils to have  the perfect texture. They aren't to waxy,or try dry. You don't have to add to much pressure to get pigment on your brows and they last all day long. They help control the odd unruly brow hair I have, and they work well on the skin in bald areas and on the brow hairs. I  also find that they don't pull to red either which is great beacuse  red toned brows aren't always the most flattering. I do have one wish and that is they would introduce  a colour between hazel and dark brown. Hazel is just a touch to light for me and the dark drown is too dark, I can just a light hand with dark brown or a combo of the two but just a brunette shade in the middle would be great.
  4. Wake Me Up Concealer | £5.99 | Buy HereI love this concealer because I find that it works great under the eyes to  cover dark circles and to brighten the eyes but I think it also looks great on blemishes and redness to cover and conceal. I find that it lasts really well all day and if you dust a little powder under they eyes to set it, it  doesn't crease in a normal days wear. It is really inexpensive, the applicator is nice and like most other concealers but I do wish they had a larger shade range. I think there are only 4 shades at the moment, and I can just about get away with the lightest one.
  5. ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliners | £3.99 | Buy Here
These liners are amazing. At just £3.99 a pencil, they are everything I want from a liner. They are smooth, creamy and glide onto the eye whether you wear them on you lash line or water line. They last ages and are incredibly pigmented. The nude and taupe colour are quite unique for the drugstore, at least here in the UK and the other colours they offer are great basics that anyone can use.
  6. BB Cream | £6.99 | Buy HereThe Rimmel BB cream is one of my favourite western BB Creams at the moment. It ties with the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream for my favourite.  I don't know if it does all the 9 things it claims, but it does offer a nice coverage for a bb cream and it does leave the skin feeling nice and moisturised. I've also used this as a tinted primer under other foundations and it worked well as that too. I love the addition of very light into the shade range, and I really want to try the Matte BB cream ASAP.
  7. Lasting Finish Matte Kate Moss Lipsticks | £5.49 | Buy HereThe Kate Moss Lipsticks from Rimmel are amazing, but I find the Matte range just that little bit more impressive. They aren't totally matte, and they don't make your lips feel drier than the Sahara desert. They leave a nice satin finish to lips, and they stay on for ages. The deeper and bolder shades last longer than the more nude, subtle shades, but overall they have a good lasting powder. They are inexpensive, the packaging is cute and they have a nice scent too. 107 is a great vampy shade, and 111 (Kiss of Life) is something I'm looking forward to trying this spring/summer.
  8. Colour Rush Balms | £5.99 | Buy HereThe colour rush balms are Rimmel's answer to the chubby stick craze. They are  smooth balm like chubby sticks that give the lips and nice sheer wash of colour on the lips while giving them a nice hit of moisture. The colours are nice, and for balm tints they last pretty well on the lips. The Nude shade is my favourite, but the others are really nice too.
  9. Moisture Renew Lipstick | £6.49 | Buy HereThe Moisture renew lipsticks are another lip product that Rimmel do well. I loved their old forumla, and I love the new formula too. They have a nice colour range, somewhat unique packaging and they glide on to the lips. They aren't as long lasting on the lips as the Kate Moss Lipsticks, but they last longer and are more pigmented than the Colour Rush balms. They shade range is excellent, and the names are really cute. In love with Ginger is a great orange shade for ka-pow lips.
  10. Stay Glossy Lip Glosses | £6.99 | Buy HereThese glosses are my most recent Rimmel discovery, and I'm in love. The stay glossy glossy are about £6.99 and are worth every penny. They are not sticky at all, really smooth on the lips and  have a nice shine to them. They have nice colours, a nice scent and last really well for non-sticky glosses. I love the light pink shades they offer, I can't  remember the name, and also love the Pop of Orange shade from the 3D Stay Glossy range.

Those are my top 10 Rimmel products, what do you love from the brand? Let me know in the comments, and I hope to see you soon!

#30in30 Lips Edition: Rimmel Lasting Finish "Kate Moss" Lipstick in 02

Kate Moss Lipsticks are a huge blogger favourite. The opqaue, creamy colours are long lasting and not drying on the lips. I adore shade 2 which is the bright, fuchsia pink colour in the original line.

The shade is very similar to that of MAC Girl About Town. It's free of shimmer or glitter, glides on the lips and stay put for a long time. They are super cheap in comparison to high end lipsticks, and the quality is just as good.

The packaging is nice and simple. The black tube is nice and sleek, the red Kate Moss logo isn't to out there and adds just a little something to it. My only wish with this lipstick is that it has a name rather than number. All of the other Rimmel lipstick ranges have names, but for some reason the Kate Moss lipsticks are numbers.

You can pick it up here for £5.49 or in store where they stock Rimmel products.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Peach Glow

I think people living under a rock, on a desert island, are the only ones to have not heard about the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder seems to be used by everyone, their mother and the dog. It's raved about here, there and everywhere, but to be honest, I don't understand why.

Throughout this review please bare in mind that I have normal to dry skin, with a very slightly oily patch on my nose. I tried to justify this not working for me because of that, and it does somewhat but I've heard bloggers and youtuber with dry skin rave about this as well.

So, I picked up the Stay Matte powder when my Maybelline Fit Me Powder was on it's lasts legs. The Rimmel option was a bit cheaper, and in some kind of hope that I could try and save money I snapped it up.

It retails for just £3.99 in Boots and Superdrug and comes in variety of shades. They have some great shades for my pale pals out there, but there really isn't anything for the darker, more tan skin tones. There is a translucent but the tester of that seems to leave a slightly hint of colour to the skin, so it might give darker skin tones a grey cast.

The store I was in didn't have an of the Transulcent shade in stock, so I picked up Peach Glow as it looked the closet to my skin tone. The powder offers very little coverage on the skin, but claims to keep skin naturally matte (or control shine) for 5 hours.

I just found this powder far to chalky to use. The chakly texture of the Stay Matte powder means it looks horrid on the skin making foundation look cakey and leaves skin looking dull and an all round mess.

It didn't help keep my foundation in place any longer than it does without powder, it left it feeling cakey and heavy on my skin and overall it was a waste of £3.99. Maybe I have a bad one or something, but I expected so much more than this from the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and it just didn't deliver. I think I'll spend a little more and grab the Maybelline Fit Me or Revlon Nearly Naked powder next time I'm in need of one.

Oh and just as a little P.S the packaging sucks. It's really flimsy, and the lid cracks pretty easily and falls off easily too. For only £2 more, you get a sturdy compact, decent powder, mirror and powder puff from Maybelline.

Up and Coming *Exciting* Products...

I'm always exciting when new things hit the shelf! I have no self control so I start buying, and therefore blogging  about them and I get lots of new things to play with.

With that in mind, I'm going to start doing a monthly post about new products that are hitting our UK shelves so maybe you can keep and eye out and squeal over them like I do.

Bourjois Cream Blushes & Bronzing Primer

With summer just around the corner (hopefully) cream blushes are in and powder blushes are out. Bourjois, famous for their baked blushes, are bringing out some fabulous cream blushes. They come in 4 shades - a matte peach, a pearly apricot pink, a pearly soft pink and a matte brown pink. They are a creamy to powder formula that claim to blend easily over the skin and carry the signature rose fragrance that comes with their signature rose fragrance. They hit Boots on May 15th if you want to get your mitts on them.

I'm also eagerly awaiting the release of their bronzing primer. I love the flower primer from the brand, and the bronzing one is said to have a similar formula. So a great primer alongside a possible dupe for the Chanel Bronze Universal. This comes out in Boots at the beginning of June, and hits Superdrug in July.

HD Brows | Blush & Bronzer

I think everyone knows what HD brows do, but the brand is now introducing a blush and bronzer range for Summer 2013. The pressed powder blush is a soft burnt rose shade that is meant to suit all skin tones while the bronzer is great for both adding a sun-kissed looks and for contouring.

They are on the pricey side of things at £17.95 for the blush and £19.95 for the bronzer, but the products that have come previously to this have been amazing quality so I think we can expect the same from these.

Maybelline Mega Plush & New Colour Tattoo Eyeshadows

I've been waiting for the pomegranate shade of the Color Tattoos to hit the UK since I saw them in the US. I cannot wait to get my hands on this, and it releases in Superdrug today.  A navy shade is also hitting the shelves.

The Mega Plush mascara has had rave and pretty bad reviews so I can't wait to give it a go to pass on my opinions too. Maybelline are hit and miss with mascaras for me, so hopefully this will be a hit.

Rimmel Lycra Flex Scandel Eyes

The bright green tube will catch your eye, and the fact that it's great for contact lens wearers will keep you interested. It's meant to keep lashes from getting hard and brittle while giving ultra great volume.

I can't say whether it lives up to expectations when it's released. You can get it for £6.99 in Superdrug from today onwards.

Barry M Confetti Top Coats

Every one and their mum went a bit crazy over the confetti top coat from L'Oreal, and Barry M see to be following suit and releasing a range of their own. I personally prefer the Barry M ones because they are more my colours. You can check out reviews and swatched over on the Sunday Girl here, but I have to say that Sour Apple is one I'm going to keep and eye out for. You can get your mitts on these from June 5th in Superdrug, and 12th June in good ol' Boots.

So, what are you awaiting the release of? I would love to know!

PS: All lashes and cosmetics are now on mix and match 3 for 2 in Superdrug for the next month or so.

Lipgloss Collection | MAC, Estee Lauder & More

Lip Smackers Fanta Gloss
This is a great budget clear gloss that isn't sticky but can be slightly greasy on the lips. It smells amazing thought.
 Twilight "Bella" Lipgloss
This is a great clear glittery lipgloss that is simple and nice on the lips. It's a little sticky but the glitter doesn't irritate my lips and it lasts a good amount of time.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss in Quartz
This is a nice gloss because it's not to glossy. It gives a nice sheen to the lips without making them sticky or wet looking. It smells good too.
The Body Shop Gloss
I like this because it has a slight yellow tint to it so it's a bit different from the regular clear gloss I would use over lippy.
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Crystal Water
I got this because of Sprinkle of Glitter. It's a slightly frosted clear gloss full of the most gorgeous fine milled glitter in just about every shade. It's amazing.
MAC Tender Tone in Tread Gently
I want MAC to repromote these. They are a lip balm with SPF15 but I use it as a gloss. It's a nice shimmery clear shade that keeps lips moisturized, gives them a gloss look and smells amazing.

L'Oreal Glam Shine Blush Gloss in Rosewood Blush
This is one of my go to nudes. It's not to glossy but leaves a nice sheen on the lips. It looks great just in the centre or all over and it's lasts well for a gloss too.
MAC Lustre Glass in Sinnamon
This is was my first MAC lipgloss and I adore it. It's a great brown nude colour with shimmer in it. It's a little sticky but the colour is beautiful and I love that the brush is a brush rather than sponge tip.

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Pop
I got this when NYX had a huge sale. I love the formlua of these glosses but I prefer the shades that don't have glitter in them because the glitter does feel gritty on the lips. The colour comes of clear though and it smells like cherries so it's pretty good.
Rimmel Gloss Stick
I love this alone or over lipstick. It's smooth, and doesn't get sticky. It's a nice colour and it was really cheap too.
MAC Plush Glass in Fullfilled
I looked up swatches before buying this and the ones I found made it look like the colour in the tube but to be honest it's just a clear plumping lipgloss. It lasts ok, it is a little sticky and does have that tingle effect most plumping glosses have.

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Tea Rose
I adore this gloss. It's a nice rose pink cream colour, and it smells like cherries. I love it and want some more from this range.
Max Factor Max Effect Lipgloss
This smells like watermelon and looks great on the lips. The colour pay off is nice and it's not to sticky either.
Rimmel Stay Glossy Gloss in Stay My Rose
This is a nice pink toned gloss that isn't sticky and creates a beautiful sheen on the lips. It lasts ages too and smells nice.
17  Ultimate Volume Lipgloss in Fuzzy Yellow Petal Flower
Can we just spend a minute on the name? Cute right? This is like a lipgloss version of Lovelorn by MAC. It's a nice pink with a little gold shimmer. It's not sticky and it's really pigmented.
L'Oreal Glam Shine Gloss in Crystal
This is a great gloss. It doesn't taste that great but it lasts a nice amount of time and the sheen it creates is gorgeous. The pink colour is great for spring summer so I'm using this more now
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Peony
This is a lovely peach/coral toned gloss that lasts ages on the lips, applies smoothly and is super pigmented. It's not that expensive, and it's a great spring colour with some gold shimmer running through it.

Revlon Super Lusturous Lipgloss in Lilac Pastel
This was so hard to track down but I finally found it in poundland for just £1 obviously. It's a nice lilac lipgloss and the packaging is really nice too.
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bait
I got this as part as a holiday set and I love it. It's a nicely pigmented creamy gloss that is a great pink brown nude colour.

Max Factor Max Effect Lipgloss in Ruby
This is a gorgeous smelling red lip gloss that is smooth on the lips, just pigmented enough for a red hint to show and it's not too sticky either.
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Rose Quart
I love this gloss just like then other colour burst lipglosses. It's pigmented, not that sticky and lasts a long time. It's got a nice sliver shimmer running through it too and works really well in the centre of the lip to make them look a little fuller.
Colour Works Lipgloss
This is similar to boy Bait my MAC but a little more pigmented. It's a nice gloss but not the best. It's not the worst either. It's got a nice colour pay off and smells nice too.

Rimmel Wake Me Up | Foundation, Concealer and Shimmer Touches

Rimmel are on the ball at the moment! I mean everything they are coming out with seems to be a hit. The Wake Me Up range is something that is kind of hit and miss. The range offers some shimmer creams, foundation and a concealer.
Wake Me Up Rimmel
Rimmel Wake Me Up Range | Wake Me Up Foundation, Wake Me Up Shimmer Touch in Radiant Rose & Shimmering Sand and Wake Me Up Concealer
People went a little crazy over the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, and with good reason. It's an amazing foundation, that work for most skin types and gives a really nice finish to the skin. I've gone through a couple of bottle, and am currently working my way through a little sample I got. I've heard it's a dupe for the Nars Sheer Glow but I'm not entirely sure about that. I would say go and try it if you haven't. It's the stand out for me in this little range Rimmel offer. It comes in 6 shades, and is only £8.99!
Wake Me Up Concealer
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory, link, £5.49
I, personally, also went a little mad over the Wake Me Up concealer. It was one of the first under eye concealers that I found that really worked for me. It brightens under my eyes and it erases those dark circles. I'm a student, I need all the help I can get. You can read my full review here! It comes in 4 shades, and it's only £5.49.

Wake Me Up Highlight
Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touches in Radiant Rose and Shimmering Sands link £4.99
There are some things that let down the range, and those are the Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch. They come in two shades, one golden toned and one pink toned. The problem that I have with these are that I'm not sure what they actually are. When I brought them, I thought they might be a highlighter but they are just too pigmented to be a highlight. The pink, Radiant Rose, seems like it could be a cream blush but it's got to much glitter in it. It makes you look like you belong in Twilight, and that's not a look I can pull off. The golden one, Shimmering Sands, isn't dark enough to be a bronzer, and it's too glittery to be a blush and too dark for a highlight. I just don't know what to do with these, so they fall in my regret buying list.

You can pick this range up in most drugstores and online here

Rimmel Gel Eyeliner Reveiw | Black & Aubergine

rimmel gel liner
Rimmel London Glam Eyes Gel Eyeliner in Black and Aubergine, £6.49. link
I've been getting into gel eyeliners recently! I never really used to use eyeliner on my top lash line, but after trying it a few times, getting a method of application down and finding a good brush to apply it with I really like having liner on the upper lash line.

I picked up these two liners in Superdrug after trying to find a good, cheap liner that was actually good. The best I've found so far is the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, but these are a close second. The only reason these do hit to top spot is because they can transfer and I'm not a fan of the packaging.

The Maybelline liner feels expensive to me, and these just don't. I think it's the brush/lid combo that makes it feel cheaper and less luxurious. The brush is great for touch ups, or if you have the skills to use it but for a beginner like me it's just not a good brush. It's very wide and I end up with liner everywhere!

I have had these transfer onto my upper lid a few times, but it only seems to happen when I apply them with a heavy hand and the product takes a little longer to set. Other than than, they are pretty great at staying in place. The intensity on the colour remains through out the day, and they are pretty darn pigmented for drugstore liners. The black is more so than then purple, but I'm impressed with both.

rimmel liner swatchThe texture is gorgeous. These are more gel like than most I've tried, and glide on smoothly. I find that some can be creamy and a little stiff, making it hard to get a nice, clean line on the upper lid. The gel-likeness about this liner makes it easy to get a smooth, crisp line.

I would recommend these to anyone who wants to give gel liner a try, and wants something other than plain ol' black. I believe they also do a brown and blue shade if you fancy giving those a try. You can get the purple here and the black here for £6.49 each.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer | Ivory

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer (Ivory)
Let's start with a simple statement, shall we? Best concealer ever! I find it really hard, being a pale patty, to find a concealer that is lighter than my skin tone to brighten under the eyes. I've found the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer covers what I need it to but it doesn't brighten like I want it to!
I've tired many under eye concealers, but I just cannot find one that matches my skin tone and brightens. This one does! It's blends into my foundation nicely, it brightens up my under eyes like nobodies business and it lasts all damn day.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer (Ivory)I seriously cannot rave enough about this, and if your pale I would suggest giving the Ivory shade a shot!  The colour range is limited which sucks for darker skin tones I must admit but if you find yourself with a pale to light/medium skin tone I would highly recommend checking this out. It's not to expensive, and Rimmel is usually on offer in either Boots or Superdrug

Bring only 19 myself concealer doesn't tend to crease on me and their aren't really that many lines for it to settle into, but if concealer tends to crease on you I would recommend giving this a quick dusting of powder to set it into place. If you want some recommendations on some great powders, check my top powder post here

P.S: I have a giveaway running at the moment to day thank you for following my little ol' blog! Check it out here
