Top "waterliner" Pencils | Nyx, Maybelline and More

I think lining your waterline finishes a look. It really brings my eye makeup together and can help create a more complete look. I used to stick with just black but after some experimentation I've found that adding some colour there can really make a neutral look just a little more interesting.

So, with that in mind I wanted to bring you a post on my top waterliner pencils. I have 5 favourites at the moment and they are all mostly affordable. I tend not to spend to much money on high end liners because the drugstore ones are so darn good. Anyway, lets get on with talking about the liners.

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in Denim Diva, Soap and Glory Smolder Kohl in Grapevine, Nyx Slide On pencil in Golden Olive, Lancome LeCrayon Kohl Eyeliner in Noir , Maybelline Master Drama in Ultra Black.
Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in Denim Diva, £3.19, link
I love these pencils from collection. They are thicker than your average liner because they are meant to be eyeshadow pencils. That being said, I love to use these on my waterline because they do NOT move! The blue is enough of a pop for me on the eyes and I love how easy these pencils go on and how well they stay in place.

Soap and Glory Smolder Kohl in Grapevine, £5.00, link
I snapped this pencil up in a Christmas gift set. In the boxing day day sale it was only £9.50 for 5 soap and glory liners. This is my favourite of the bunch, but all of them are lovely smooth, pigmented liners. Unfortunately, it seems this colour was only available in the set but the black and brown are only £5 and are just as great.

Nyx Slide On Waterproof Pencil in Golden Olive, £7.50, link I picked this up on sale sometime after hearing the beauty guru community of youtube raved about these pencils. The Nyx Slide On pencils are like gel liner in a pencil forms. They glide on the waterline and stay for a pretty decent amount of time.  I love the olive colour of this pencil because it's different from the usual black or brown but isn't to bright of a colour to make in unwearable.

Lancome LeCrayon Khol Eye Liner in Noir, £18.50, link
I love this liner for everyday use because it's not crazy black. It had a more traditional pencil texture but doesn't pull at the skin or hurt when you apply. It's not as creamy as the other liners here but it is soft enough to use in the waterline. It looks great used on the waterline and slightly under the eye for a smokey look, and lasts a decent amount of time.

Maybelline Master Drama Cream Eyeliner Pencil in Ultra Black, £4.49, link
This cream eyeliner is one of the best I've found. It is creamy, but doesn't melt to much. It can be smudged a little but it sets in place when you need it to not budge. It is really black as well which is another total win for the Master Drama liner.

Lipgloss Collection | MAC, Estee Lauder & More

Lip Smackers Fanta Gloss
This is a great budget clear gloss that isn't sticky but can be slightly greasy on the lips. It smells amazing thought.
 Twilight "Bella" Lipgloss
This is a great clear glittery lipgloss that is simple and nice on the lips. It's a little sticky but the glitter doesn't irritate my lips and it lasts a good amount of time.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss in Quartz
This is a nice gloss because it's not to glossy. It gives a nice sheen to the lips without making them sticky or wet looking. It smells good too.
The Body Shop Gloss
I like this because it has a slight yellow tint to it so it's a bit different from the regular clear gloss I would use over lippy.
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Crystal Water
I got this because of Sprinkle of Glitter. It's a slightly frosted clear gloss full of the most gorgeous fine milled glitter in just about every shade. It's amazing.
MAC Tender Tone in Tread Gently
I want MAC to repromote these. They are a lip balm with SPF15 but I use it as a gloss. It's a nice shimmery clear shade that keeps lips moisturized, gives them a gloss look and smells amazing.

L'Oreal Glam Shine Blush Gloss in Rosewood Blush
This is one of my go to nudes. It's not to glossy but leaves a nice sheen on the lips. It looks great just in the centre or all over and it's lasts well for a gloss too.
MAC Lustre Glass in Sinnamon
This is was my first MAC lipgloss and I adore it. It's a great brown nude colour with shimmer in it. It's a little sticky but the colour is beautiful and I love that the brush is a brush rather than sponge tip.

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Pop
I got this when NYX had a huge sale. I love the formlua of these glosses but I prefer the shades that don't have glitter in them because the glitter does feel gritty on the lips. The colour comes of clear though and it smells like cherries so it's pretty good.
Rimmel Gloss Stick
I love this alone or over lipstick. It's smooth, and doesn't get sticky. It's a nice colour and it was really cheap too.
MAC Plush Glass in Fullfilled
I looked up swatches before buying this and the ones I found made it look like the colour in the tube but to be honest it's just a clear plumping lipgloss. It lasts ok, it is a little sticky and does have that tingle effect most plumping glosses have.

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Tea Rose
I adore this gloss. It's a nice rose pink cream colour, and it smells like cherries. I love it and want some more from this range.
Max Factor Max Effect Lipgloss
This smells like watermelon and looks great on the lips. The colour pay off is nice and it's not to sticky either.
Rimmel Stay Glossy Gloss in Stay My Rose
This is a nice pink toned gloss that isn't sticky and creates a beautiful sheen on the lips. It lasts ages too and smells nice.
17  Ultimate Volume Lipgloss in Fuzzy Yellow Petal Flower
Can we just spend a minute on the name? Cute right? This is like a lipgloss version of Lovelorn by MAC. It's a nice pink with a little gold shimmer. It's not sticky and it's really pigmented.
L'Oreal Glam Shine Gloss in Crystal
This is a great gloss. It doesn't taste that great but it lasts a nice amount of time and the sheen it creates is gorgeous. The pink colour is great for spring summer so I'm using this more now
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Peony
This is a lovely peach/coral toned gloss that lasts ages on the lips, applies smoothly and is super pigmented. It's not that expensive, and it's a great spring colour with some gold shimmer running through it.

Revlon Super Lusturous Lipgloss in Lilac Pastel
This was so hard to track down but I finally found it in poundland for just £1 obviously. It's a nice lilac lipgloss and the packaging is really nice too.
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bait
I got this as part as a holiday set and I love it. It's a nicely pigmented creamy gloss that is a great pink brown nude colour.

Max Factor Max Effect Lipgloss in Ruby
This is a gorgeous smelling red lip gloss that is smooth on the lips, just pigmented enough for a red hint to show and it's not too sticky either.
Revlon Colour Burst Lipgloss in Rose Quart
I love this gloss just like then other colour burst lipglosses. It's pigmented, not that sticky and lasts a long time. It's got a nice sliver shimmer running through it too and works really well in the centre of the lip to make them look a little fuller.
Colour Works Lipgloss
This is similar to boy Bait my MAC but a little more pigmented. It's a nice gloss but not the best. It's not the worst either. It's got a nice colour pay off and smells nice too.

Awesome Blushes on a Budget

I am on a spending ban. I am literally so close to running out of cash that I’m down to buying food to live on and that’s it. So, there won’t be any new reviews for a while but I was looking through my collection deciding what I could post about and the blushes I have stood out to me. I don’t have the best or biggest collection of blushes because they aren’t my favourite part of makeup, but the ones I have I do really like and I thought I would share my opinions on my favourites with you.

ELF Blush and Bronzing duo link, ELF Blush link, Topshop Cream Blush link, NYX Rouge Cream Blush link and Natural Collection blush link.

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Duo
This is a pretty popular duo I believe, and I can see why. It’s a great way to get a bronzer and blush that complement each other really well and for such a cheap price. I’ve also heard that this is a dupe for NarsOrgasm and Laguna, which is great considering it’s £26.25 cheaper than the Nars compact. It’s got shimmer in it, which can be noticed if you are to heavy handed but overall it’s a nice natural looking duo that can work for even pale girls.
I know that ELF can be a bit hit and miss, so this might not be the greatest thing for everyone but I adore this blush. It’s a nice bright pink colour that isn’t to pigmented. That would normally be a bad thing but because of the brightness of the colour the lower than average pigmentation makes it easy to use. It gives a nice flush to the cheeks and it’s a nice matte colour so you don’t get chunks of glitter on your face.
These blushes are only £1.99, and they are amazing. They are better quality than most more expensive blushes that I’ve tried. They are nicely pigmented, super blendable and they last a decent amount of time. The shade pink cloud is one of my favourites, and one of the brightest in the range and the other colours are more natural. It’s one of the only brands in the drugstore that I’ve found that do really neutral/nude coloured.

I’ve raved about this until I’m blue in the face so I won’t say too much. These are fantastic, and I think I own every colour that they had in the Oxford Street store. They blend nicely, they have amazing pigmentation and they packaging is lovely. The finish on these is nice to because it goes on like a cream but sets and lasts like a powder.  Just all around fabulous, in my opinion.

This blush is gorgeous, and a really nice neutral colour with golden shimmer. It’s a little too creamy, but the colour is lovely so I work with it. It works nicely when you use a brush or your fingers. It’s a little hard to get a hold of in the UK but I’ll link it above. I know these are easier to get in the US. If you’re from the UK, and putting a NYX order in online would highly recommend this.

Notable Nudes | Favourite Nude Lipsticks

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick, Milani Advanced HD Lip Color, Revlon Lip Butter, NYX Round Lipstick, MAC Amplified Lipstick, NYX Round Lipstick, L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick and 17 Mirror Shine Lipstick.
Nude Ingenue, Classy Nude, Creme Brulee, Iris, Blankety, Circe, Boreal/Taffeta and Beehive
At this time of year everyone is talking about those dark lips that are all the rage in the autumn/winter but I'm not always a dark lip person because I have small lips. I'm also the kind of girl that loves to play up the eyes and love a dark or slightly more heavy eye makeup look. With heavy eye makeup it's pretty hard to pull of a dark lips to so I tend to stick to my nude lipsticks.

17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in Beehive, L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Boreal/Taffeta, NYX Round Lipstick in Circe, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Blankety, NYX Round Lipstick in Iris, Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee, Milani Advanced HD Lip Color in Classy Nude, and L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Nude Ingenue
I have far to many and these aren't all of them but these are my favourite nude shades. They all have a slightly different tone and I think there is something here for every skin tone. There are a couple of true nude colours, and more pink or orange based nudes too.

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Nude Ingenue link
This is a gorgeous lightweight lipstick that is really moisturizing on the lips. It's very sheer so if nude lips don't work on you this might because it lets some of your natural lip colour peek through.

Milani Advanced HD Lip Color in Classy Nude link
To me this a 'true' nude colour. It doesn't really have any pink or peach undertones to it which is great if you want a real nude lip. It's quite sheer but you can build up the colour to make a slightly more intense look. It doesn't last as long as some do but it's not drying at all.

Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee link
The formula of this is quite similar to the Rouge Caresse lipstick but a bit more balmy and thick. The colour comes of really sheer but it can be built up. I like this for a simple look that you can top up without a mirror.

NYX Round Lipstick in Iris link
This is great for those who want something with a slight undertone to it because a real nude makes them look ill. This has an orange or peach undertone and it also has shimmer in it. It's not drying at all which I love and it lasts a fair amount of time on the lips to.

MAC Amplified Lipstick in Blankety link
This is my all time favourite nude lipstick and I have plans to repurchase this until I no longer can. It's what I tend to always have in my bag even if I've originally gone out with a pink or red lips because it's a nice go to colour. It lasts forever on the lips without drying them out and it covers all your natural lip colour which I like. It has a dark pink under tone so for pale skin girls like me, it doesn't make you look dead.

NYX Round Lipstick in Circe link
The is probably the most nude of all the nudes. It might be slightly brown but it's a real nude for me. It doesn't last as long as some but it lasts longer than others so it's pretty average but it's not drying which is a total bonus.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Boreal/Taffeta link
This is a dupe for Blankety. The colours are nearly exactly the same but this one is a little more pink toned. The only thing I don't like about this is the scent because it smells like old ladies to me but it lasts ages and it's not as expensive as MAC.

17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in Beehive link
This is a near on perfect dupe for MAC Hue. I do have this lipstick somewhere but I can't find it at the moment to show you how close they are but the only slight difference is the undertones. This is slightly more pink where as Hue is slightly more peachy. It's sheer like Hue and it's really moisturizing on the lips to.

Rock A Red Lip!

Vaseline, Topshop, NYX, 17, Topshop & Maybelline

I used to be scared of red lips because I have quite small lips and darker colours or brighter colours make them look smaller but I thought "screw it" after lusting after red colours for a long time. They actually look better than I thought they would on me and I really like the combination of the red lips against my pale skin tone. These are my favourite reds right now!

Vaseline Rosy Lips, Topshop Hazard, NYX Chaos, 17 Hot Stuff, Topshop Rio Rio and Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Me

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips link
This is a great product if you're scared of a red lip because you can get that sheer wash of colour without the 'Bamb!' in your face impact of other reds. It's also good if you have dry lips because red lipsticks ten to highlight the dry patches on your lips.

Topshop Lips Lipstick in Hazard link
This isn't as dark as it looks in the tube, which disappointed me at first becuase that was the colour that I wanted but I still love this lipstick. Topshop lipsticks are amazing quality and I adore them, and this one is no different. It glides on nicely, and stays put which is great.

NYX Lipstick in Chaos link
This is the ultimate autumn red in my opinion. It's blue toned, so if you don't like that don't bother but it's the most gorgeous deep red colour that isn't drying or anything like that and it lasts a long time. It's a super intense colour on the lips which screams 'fall' to me.
17 Supreme Shine Lipstick in Hot Stuff link
I adore these range of lipsticks and own quite a few but this is one of my favourites because it's a nice red colour. It's actually pretty similar to Rio Rio by topshop but just a little different which gives me a reason to own both. I love the finish on this because it leaves a nice sheen on the lips and I like that it's not to high maintenance like most red lipsticks.
Topshop Lips Lipstick in Rio Rio link
I won't say much on this because you can read my review here! But it's a nice bright red that is also a dupe for a limited edition MAC shade called Sail Le Vile.
Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me link
I hadn't tried this before I brought this off a blog sale and now I know what all the fuss is about. They are a beautiful lip balm and I love this one especially because I gives a nice wash of red colour to the lips and leaves a nice glossy effect too! Maybelline, please bring these to the UK. I need more of them in my life!

Review & Swatches | NYX Eyeshadow in Highlight

Hey guys,

Today I have a quick review for you and a quick swatch as well. It’s on the NYX mono eyeshadow in the shade highlight and I’m going to jump right into it.

 The Price & Packaging

I really like the packaging of this. I like the black shell and the fact that it has a clear window so you can see the colour. I think the label on the back is clear and easy to read. That sound like a strange thing to comment upon but I hate it when products have really small labels or labels with clashing colours that make it impossible to read it clearly.

I picked this up in an outlet store for about £3.50, but you can get it online for £4.50. I don’t think that’s all that bad when you consider the price of some other shadows.

The Colour & Pigmentation

As the name would suggest this is a highlight colour. It’s a yellow toned flesh colour that’s completely matte. When I brought this there wasn’t any testers , so I couldn’t test the pigmentation or anything like that and if I could have tested it I probably would have got a different colour because this blends out to nothing. It really had no impact no matter what I do with it, and it kind of sits there going to waste. But maybe on skin tones that don’t match the colour like mine does it would work better.

The Availability

I decided to mention this because NYX is hard to get hold of in the UK. I hear a lot of people say that you can’t get it in the UK but you can. It’s available online and there is huge selection of stuff on the site. I would highly recommend checking it out because the products are amazing, and not to expensive either. Also, keep an eye out for it in discount store of CCO’s because it pops up in the one I’m in every so often and they have everything from the Black label lipsticks to lip liners to the glitters!

Have you tired any NYX eyeshadows? Do you think they are awesome?

Thanks for reading guys,
Sarah xo
